Jakob For The People is a grassroots effort built on the idea that government should work for the people it represents. Our campaign is made up of volunteers, supporters, and residents who care about safer communities, stronger local economies, and opportunities for the next generation.
We believe in listening before leading, protecting what matters most, and working together to build a better future for Illinois.

Who Is Jakob
Jakob Harnesk is a community-focused leader who believes in hard work, accountability, and service above self.
Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, Jakob learned the value of hard work, responsibility, and community from an early age. He saw firsthand the importance of helping neighbors, supporting family, and giving back to the places we call home. These lessons shaped the foundation of his leadership and public service philosophy.
Jakob has built his career around practical problem-solving, business operations, and team leadership. Through his experience managing teams, running businesses, and engaging with the community, he has worked alongside employees, customers, and residents from all walks of life — listening, taking action, and delivering results.
He believes government should reflect the same principles that guide strong families and thriving communities: personal responsibility, fiscal discipline, public safety, and opportunity for those willing to work for it.
Why I’m Running
Jakob is running for Illinois State Representative in 2028 because he believes leadership should be accessible, transparent, and focused on the people — not political insiders. He wants to give a voice to working families, protect small businesses, strengthen communities, and ensure government serves the people, not itself.
He is committed to policies and solutions that support safer neighborhoods, stronger schools, and economic opportunities for everyone willing to work hard. Jakob believes public service is a responsibility, not a privilege, and he is ready to bring that dedication to the people of Illinois.
Outside of work, Jakob volunteers at a dog rescue named the Charlie project dog rescue, supports charitable causes, and spends time connecting with residents to understand their needs. He believes leadership is not about titles, but about showing up, listening, and taking action.
Above all, Jakob is committed to earning trust through action, standing firm on principle, and serving the people of Illinois with integrity.
